Colwynn was still getting used to life in Norway. She missed home more often than she cared to admit. She was a city girl at heart and Norway felt too...rustic. Not that she minded all that much. She liked nature, but to visit. She was sure she'd get used to it...eventually. She was excited to see the Aurora Borealis when the time came. She was less excited about losing hours and hours of sunlight. She was even less excited about the prospect of making 'new friends'. She honestly hadn't had that many friends even back when she was at Hogwarts, but at least she had some. People thought she was a radical. If a poll had been taken she likely would have won the title Most Likely To Be Arrested.
It was accurate, of course. Technically she'd already been arrested...once or twice. Usually for protesting the mistreatment of animals. Never anything extreme. Her punishments usually ended up being community service, which was fine by her. She was trying to behave herself, though. Last time she'd acted out she and her dad basically got booted out of Ireland.
Despite not having made human friends, she'd made quick friends with almost all of the animals in the stables. Rather than doing her homework in the library, which was overcrowded and rowdy by the time she'd left it, so she'd elected to do her homework with one the the thestrals instead. She liked all of the animals, but the thestral was just the one who had taken the most of a shine to her. She had brought a steak from the kitchens as a snack for the creature before she'd settled in on the short wall of the stall to finish doing her homework. She didn't know how long she'd been in there, but she'd basically finished one of her essays when she heard someone enter the stable. Her initial reaction was to stiffen up and go on the defensive. She relaxed and reminded herself that she wasn't the only one allowed in the stables before she could get too upset over it. The thestral nudged at her and she smiled at the creature before reaching back into her bag and giving them another treat, which they devoured readily
