Jakob is a tall, handsome (yes, he knows it and uses it) young man who maintains an athletic build through his physical activities. He's svelte, as he is does not lower himself to muggle standards of actual labour, so he'll never be a buff young wizard - every inch of his body is covered in strictly lean muscle. He's significantly taller than his twin sister, Ilse, and he let's her know about it too when she's fucked him off.
As an infant and into childhood, Jakob's hair was a very light colour - one would have said that he was going to be a blonde much like his sister. As he grew, the boy's hair gradually began to darken into what is now deep chocolate brown, curly locks that are neatly trimmed at all times - even if it does not appear that way.
The original Jakob was indeed a blonde creature. Thanks to the work of the hairdresser's charms, the family was able to suppress the new Jakob's natural colour until it was a gradual "natural" process, often blamed on puberty. Jakob's never questioned his parents about this ... despite not having found one inch of proof that there were darker haired relatives like himself anywhere in the bloodline. There's always a first for everything... right?
Jakob always dresses to impress and personally favours dark, royal blue and silver where possible. He feels that it brings out his eyes the best that way. He also wears the family ring that he was gifted by his grandfather when he passed, two years ago.
It's worth to note that after the Dragon Pox, Jakob has two dark marks that are like "second nipples", as well as a faded scar on his left temple. In reality, the marks have nothing to do with Dragon Pox, as this Jakob was never afflicted. Nothing like an ugly illness to explain why someone looks so different.
As a small child, the original Jakob was well behaved, loved to play in the water (in fact, it was the only real battle his parents faced, tantrum-wise), enjoyed his early years tutoring and had a healthy attachment to his parents and twin sister. That was, until little Jakob fell deathly ill.
Once Jakob had "recovered" from his illness, it was almost as if the Pox had turned the child's personality upside down. He had some new phobias that stand to this day - you'll never find Jakob ready to jump into any body of water and it takes every inch of his self-control not to panic at the thought of it. The child that had once loved bathing with his twin sister would only be washed in a shower and only with a parent watching well past what is considered healthy attachment period.
He had to be taught again how to dine properly and had awful night-terrors. Perhaps this lead to his parents often sleeping in different beds? Who knows, all that's important now is that the teenager now suffers less and less from these awful dreams that are, in fact, memories of a terrible night.
In general, Jakob is more competitive than particularly ambitious - he's lead a wealthy life and though his parents have distanced themselves from him, he sees no reason why he wouldn't continue to be successful in anything he decides to do in the future. He excels in physical magic, particularly the art of duelling due to his quick wit and reflexes. Similarly, he has enjoyed prestige in the Quidditch arena and often pretends that he doesn't notice his adoring fans.
He is deeply protective of his sister - the only family member that he has had a constant in his life. He's not wound nearly as tightly as she is and prides himself on being the rock when she needs him to be. He competes in most things with her, except potions class. That's one class that he easily comes in second to her, as he feels she needs it more than he does.
Jakob loves the outdoors.. except during stormy weather. You'll never see him out in a storm. Often he retreats to the safety of his bedroom with a calming draught to "work on his homework".
Jakob Askanier isn't who his family says he is.
In reality, the four year old had been found half drowned on the bank of a small creek by a pureblood wizard was stupidly out in a horrific windstorm, grieving the loss of his own son. Father did not have the time to question why such a small child was alone like this - he needed immediate medical attention. It took what seemed like a lifetime for the child to open his eyes once warm in the bed back at the family mansion. In Father's grief, perhaps, he may have believed his child returned to him.
No matter the man-hunt that the muggle police-force raised in the week following the terrible car accident that claimed Ruth and Peter Savage, their four year old son Jake was never found. Their surviving child, Zoe, has never had closure on her missing - presumed dead - baby brother.
The new world that Jake - now Jakob, funnily enough - found himself in was quite different but as a four year old, he felt he rather took it in his stride. Things improved, in many ways, as he now had a sister to play with.
His new mother and father found some difficulties in the transition though; he needed to have his hair lightened with charms and there was a lot of trauma that caused nightmares and the boy that was previously a good little water-baby had turned phobic. In fact, it was in the first couple of days that the parents found this out. When they tried desperately to get little Jakob to have a bath, his first sign of magic was to violently cast his parents across the bathroom, against the marble walls. The dazed parents looked at each other and thanked Merlin the child was magical.
As a child, Jakob enjoyed being in his father's shop whenever humanly possible. All the trinkets and treasures were amazing. He loved going to the Quidditch tournaments and would practice on the Askanier estate against the house elves. Granted it was ground-based practice, but it meant that the young wizard had a head start when he got to Durmstrang.
The young wizard was pleased as he entered the prestigious school and all the teachers have earned the respect of the student with their comportment. Jakob's feeling the distance of his parents though, particularly due to the engagement of his twin sister. Why wasn't an equal match made for him?
